Driving Apps? There's one for that!

No matter what your desire for the right information at the right time...it would seem,  "There's an app for that."  Of course there is.  And we've just scratched the surface haven't we.

And Honda, in it's characteristic mode to always be the best, by default provides a form of 'one stop shopping' in it's delivery of HondaLink.  With every new 2013 Accord EX-L and above the capability is there, ready for every driver to tap into.  The car becomes  a technomechanical information mobility pod that is designed to keep you connected.  What started as a series of enablilng technologies has certainly evolving.  I suppose broadcast radio technology was the first modern entry with Amplitude Modulation. (ok..I'll forego mention of 'smoke signals' and 'telegraphy)  Then there was a vast lull from the days of AM radio to the next generation of connectivity.  FM radio(circa 1948), then came cellular technology, then satellite and now we've gone full circle.  With greater bandwidth the Accord now is equiped with  voice activated satellite navigation for you not only to calculate a best route from point a to point b, but to alert you to 'realtime traffic' situations, and even to read a book to you as you drive. And to receive and respond to text messages from colleagues, friends, family...with voice, this all, HandsFree, without distraction. The Safety for Everyone commitment is upheld.

Sure there are many apps available, and one might wonder... why should an automobile manufacturer be the clearing house for what keeps you connected in this digital world we 'drive in'?  It's the 21st century manifestation of horizontal technology integration I suppose.   Let's take a look at the products that are avialable and move forward to determine the best mix for your specific needs.  And just how well Honda is doing that job for you.  And what specific trim level provides you with the richest set of tools to stay connected.

The Honda Civic Rallys to beat the Corolla in Sales

The Honda Civic overtook the Toyota Corolla to become the best-selling compact in 2012, while the Ford Focus came in third place – up from its 2011 sixth-place finish. While the Chevrolet Cruze was the best-selling in the segment for several months early in 2012, the compact sedan finished fourth overall.

Honda sold 317,909 Civics in 2012 – an increase of nearly 97,000 units from 2011 – which was enough for it to take compact sales crown. Although Toyota sold 50,688 more Corollas in 2012 than it did the previous year, it was only good enough for second place. Sales of the Ford Focus increased from 175,717 units in 2011 to 245,922 units last year, while the Chevrolet Cruze slipped from second place in 2011 to fourth place in 2012 (237,758 units).

Best-Selling Car For 15 years...in Canada..Globally Competitive

Honda's commitment to constantly improve the Civic culminates in the new 2013 Civic, which is now available throughout the U.S. and Canadian dealerships.  The 2013 Civic features numerous improvements including a restyled exterior (sedan only), more premium interior styling, a quieter cabin, increased safety and fuel efficiency and a more fun-to-drive feel. It is a vehicle with 40 years of excellence and experience and with its various models and trim levels, there truly is a Civic for everyone.
More that 3.6 million Honda Civics have been manufactured by Canadians at Honda of Canada Mfg. in Alliston, Ontario. 1.7 million Civics have been parked in driveways across Canada over the years.

Nearly every Civic sold in Canada is built for Canadians, by Canadians, in the Ontario manufacturing facility.

During its tenure as Canada's best-selling passenger car, Civic's 6th, 7th and 8th generations have all contributed to the iconic brand, including the introduction of the Si Coupe and Hybrid models, numerous car-of-the-year awards and innovative technologies such as the introduction of i-VTEC® engines, Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure and the IMA hybrid system.

Just another long running success story for one of our best selling models, the Honda Civic.  What makes sense in America...seems to make sense in our neighbors to the North in Canada.
