Honda to Debut 2012 CR-V, 2013 Fit EV at LA Auto Show

Oh Yes! This 2011 Honda CR-V Concept
(what we expect to see as the 2012 CR-V)
may be exactly what we've all been waiting
for!!!

Honda has kept things simple and clear with their debuts at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show, schedule for next month. At the event, the Japanese automaker has promised to bring not only the 2012 CR-V, but also a production version of the 2013 Fit EV, which also made its debut in concept form in LA last year.

“With a new design—both inside and out, new features and new possibilities, the 2012 CR-V will set a new standard for the class,” Honda says on its official website. “As a top-selling crossover for over five years, expectations for the 2012 CR-V are high and we're confident they will not only be met, but exceeded. Much more will be revealed over the next several months.

"The body of the new CR-V will see much more aggressively shaped than the previous generation, but the biggest changes have to be what’s happening under the bonnet and on the inside. The US engine range will see a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder being introduced, while a third bench should be introduced, making room for seven people, thanks to "a more accommodating and spacious design."The CR-V will still be offered with a 2.4-liter gasoline engine, but according to recent spec sheets the power has dropped slightly from 180 hp to 175 hp. As for the new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that will churn out 201 horsepower in the 2012 Honda model. Like the much criticized new Civic, the CR-V will keep offering a five-speed automatic instead of newer six-speed units that are leading the industry. As for the Fit EV, which should enter production next year, it will be powered by a lithium-ion battery and a version of the electric motor used in the automaker's FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicle. The range should be 100 miles (160 km) and the car will be able to reach a top speed of 100 miles per hour (160 km).
