2014 Honda CR-V is a "Best Car For The Money" According to U.S. News & World Report

The 2014 Honda CR-V (http://automobiles.honda.com/cr-v/), the best-selling SUV in America for the past two years, has won a U.S. News & World Report "Best Cars for the Money" award. The highly-versatile and feature-packed CR-V was named "Best Compact SUV for the Money" among 2014 vehicles sold in the United States.

"The CR-V offers more quality, utility, comfort, fuel-efficiency, and fun-to-drive character than many more-expensive competitors," said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president of Automobile Operations at American Honda. "Value for the money is one of the key things that customers expect when buying a Honda, and this award recognizes the CR-V's fulfillment of that promise."

The "Best Cars for the Money" methodology combines quality and value data into a composite score. Within each of 21 award categories, the vehicle with the highest score is named the "Best Car for the Money" in that category. Quality is measured by the overall score a vehicle achieved in the U.S. News car rankings at the time the awards are published. The rankings, updated monthly at www.usnews.com/cars, compare cars on the basis of safety, reliability and a consensus of industry experts' opinions. Value is measured by a combination of a vehicle's five-year total cost of ownership and the average price paid for the vehicle at the time the awards are published.

Honda Now Ships More American-made Cars from the U.S. than it imports from Japan

American Honda became a net exporter in the U.S. for the first time in 2013 - exporting 108,705 U.S.-made Honda and Acura vehicles versus the 88,537 vehicles it imported from Japan. With sustained growth, Honda achieved record production of automobiles in 2013, both in North America (1,781,213 units) and in the U.S. (1,309,917 units), enabling this first-ever net exporter achievement.

"Achieving net exporter status is a natural result of our commitment and investment in the U.S. and North America," said Tetsuo Iwamura, president & CEO of Honda North America, Inc. "The achievement of this tremendous milestone is a result of the efforts of the tens of thousands of associates in America who develop and produce our vehicles and those who manage the export of these products to customers in global markets."

Over the past three years, Honda has invested more than $2.7 billion to expand its U.S. and North American auto production operations. As a result, today nearly 95 percent of the Honda and Acura cars and trucks sold in the U.S. are made locally in North America.

Honda is the Most Durable, Longest Lasting Brand in its Class for Past 25 Years

Honda vehicles are the most durable and longest lasting of any mainstream automotive brand*, according to Polk vehicle registration statistics from 1988-2012. No other mainstream brand had a greater percentage of vehicles on the road than the Honda brand. In the mainstream segment, an industry best 75% of all Honda vehicles sold in the last 25 years were still on the road.

"One of the most important considerations for a new vehicle purchase is how long that vehicle will last and this study demonstrates that Honda quality and reliability is not just part of our hard-earned reputation but represents our industry-leading performance on the road," said Michael Accavitti, senior vice president of automobile operations for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "If consumers want the most durable, longest lasting mainstream brand, Honda vehicles are the clear choice."
